Topic: Grace - When No Means Everything
Nats: What things were gain to me, now counted loss for Christ (Philippians 3:7) Readings: Philippians 3:7-14
When the garage unpacking my son, I found all the trophies which he won through a variety of athletic games for years. Everything was put into a cardboard box, and ready for . I remember the blood, sweat, and tears are pouring in order to get all of the award. But now he threw it away. Overall it was not worth it anymore for him.
I was reminded of a children's poetry written by Shel Silverstein strange titled "Hector the Collector". The poem tells about all the objects that were collected Hector over the years. He "loves those things that shines more than diamonds, more than the glittering gold." Then Hector invite all his friends, "Come here, I want to share my wealth!" Then all his friends "come to see it, but they call it trash stuff!"
Something like that will end our lives. All of us, all the things that we strive for in all our lives, it was never meant nothing but trash. That's when we are convinced that the treasure is not the most precious things in life.
From now on we will have the right perspective, such as Paul's outlook. "What things were gain to me, now counted loss for Christ" (Philippians 3:7). We must be fair to our possessions, because in fact we already have the most valuable treasures, namely the knowledge of Christ Jesus our Lord-David Roper
WE ARE THE BIGGEST PROPERTY THAT WE HAVE IN CHRIST
